About Blown-in Fiberglass

Blown-in Fiberglass Insulation is a perfect option for retrofit attic work or new construction (access permitting) as a cost-effective option. Fiberglass Blown-In Insulation is made of recycled glass spun into loose fibers that are blown into an attic or other netted cavity using a blow machine. Unlike cellulose, Blown-in Fiberglass insulation is light and fluffy, and doesn’t settle over time. Unless damaged, the installed insulation should last the life of the building.

With all conventional insulation products, such as fiberglass and cellulose, R-value degradation over time will occur under certain conditions. This phenomenon of reduced R-Values overtime is caused by settling or damaged to the insulation, and is referred to as the new “Aged R-Value” for the insulation. With proper installation and coverage, Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation R-value degradation can be minimized to help maximize your insulation investment.
